JOB ADVERT – HIGH SCHOOL Physical Education and Life Orientation Teacher (Grade 8 – 12)

Applications are invited for the following permanent position commencing in January 2026.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should:

  • hold a Bachelor of Education/Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Physical Education or Human Movement) or relevant Sports Sciences degree.
  • be registered with SACE
  • be First Aid Training certified
  • be a qualified teacher with at least five years of experience in teaching Life Orientation or Physical Education/sport in a school environment

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Suitable candidates should:

  • have excellent communication and inter-personal skills with parents, staff and students
  • be passionate about helping students fall in love with sport and movement
  • be a caring, collaborative teacher with a strong sense of responsibility
  • have a willingness to engage with students and their families on a personal level to help children in the best way possible
  • support the Catholic, Marist ethos of the school
  • commit to the school’s transformation, equity and belonging strategic objectives in support of an equitable, inclusive and safe school environment for all

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be required to:

  • be responsible for all duties required of a teacher
  • lead a classroom first by example of conduct and then by instructing students through excellent teaching
  • inspire a lifelong love for movement, sport and wellbeing
  • developing physical skills, teamwork and character through creative, inclusive and engaging PE lessons and sport activities
  • equip students with the physical, emotional and social foundations they need to lead active, balanced and resilient lives
  • be able to add value to the school’s extra-curricular programme
