INFORMATION AND

TECHNOLOGY

Students use iPads and Chromebooks from Grade 8 and laptops for specialised subjects from Grade 10.

The Computer Literacy curriculum introduced in Grade 8, taps into a variety of critical skills enabling students to ‘think’ outside the box. The curriculum also introduces the students to the Grade 10 subjects CAT and IT.

These skills include various functions on Apple, Microsoft and Google platforms (i.e. Analytics, Social media, Graphic design, Documents, Spreadsheets, Email communication, Marketing automation, Data visualization). Digital citizenship plays an important role in moulding our students into model digital citizens who will use technology responsibly.

Students are able to tailor their devices to suit their individual needs which allows them to manage time, improve note-taking skills and allows them to use various applications to present visual and other types of presentations.

Grades 10 to 12 have an elective subject called Computer Applications Technology (CAT). CAT equips students with knowledge, skills values and attitudes to create, design and communicate information in various formats, and makes it possible for students to collect, analyse, edit data and to manipulate, process, present and communicate information to different sectors of society.

We have also introduced the elective subject Information Technology (IT) to the Grade 10 students of 2021. IT deals with four main topics; Systems Technologies, Internet and Communication Technologies, Social Implications and Data and Information Management solution development.
