MARIST BROTHERS LINMEYER

PRE-SCHOOL
ACADEMIC
CURRICULUM

Marist Brothers Linmeyer offers a vibrant stimulating learning environment. Young girls and boys, aged between 4 (Grade PR) and 6 years old (Grade R), are given the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to build a solid foundation for their learning path.

We ensure children
are prepared well
for Grade 1 readiness.

Like all parents we wanted to place our children at the best educational environment a school can offer. We believe that Marist Brothers Linmeyer offers the best Pre-School facilities and holistic academic curriculum for our children. “A child’s life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark.”

Thank you and bless all the educators who give so much care and love to our children.

The academic curriculum is well rounded and focuses nicely on each aspect that a young student needs to be familiar with.

FOSTERING A LOVE OF WORK

Our curriculum is child orientated and adapted to the age, ability and developmental stage of the children.

Our Pre-School works within the guidelines of the IEB (Independent Examination Board) three term curriculum. As an independent school and passionate about providing programmes that support children’s growth, we have the ability to equip our children with important life skills.

Within our classrooms of 20 students, we aim to provide creative learning experiences that not only benefit the individual creativity, but also contribute to the development of academic skills.

We focus on developing the higher thinking skills, enhancing multi-cultural understandings and building self-esteem.

LEARN THROUGH PLAY

An expansive play area allows children to play on multi-sensory equipment and experience sensory play. Through purposeful play, our children are on a journey of self-discovery, exploration, curiosity, challenge and empowerment.

We offer an exciting ‘paid’ extra-mural timetable offering a variety of cultural and sporting activities eg. ballet, pottery, ball skills.

INSPIRING OUR STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE THEIR BEST

We inspire our students to be engaged in their learning and strive to always reach their personal bests.

It is such a privilege to be part of a child’s start in Pre-School. To know that you will influence their educational journey and help nurture them and help grow them into independent mini people.

We look forward to meeting you and your children and welcoming you to our happy family.

WEEKLY CLASS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND CLASS SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY SESSIONS

From enrolment acceptance, where necessary, our therapists work with your child.

1 in 4 Parents Worry that their Infant or Toddler is Behind in Developmental Milestones

As infants and toddlers grow, many parents may wonder if their children are walking, talking and socializing when they’re supposed to be. In fact, nearly a quarter of parents have suspected, over the last two years, that their child’s developmental milestones may be delayed.

CLASS SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY

Students receive weekly Class Speech and Language Therapy sessions from Grade R to Grade 2.

The Grade PR Educators have been provided with a comprehensive programme, designed by our Speech and Language Therapist, to facilitate the development of age appropriate skills in class.

These weekly half hour sessions focus on the development of auditory processing skills. This includes phonological awareness (dealing with sounds, being able to break words into sounds and blend them for reading), auditory discrimination and auditory memory. In older grades these skills are linked to phonics to enable the learners to apply these skills to literacy.

During sessions the Therapist is able to monitor students’ progress, identify those who have difficulties in targeted areas and listen out for other speech and language impediments. These students may then receive more individual input or be referred for ongoing therapy at an additional cost.

CLASS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Students receive weekly Class Occupational Therapy sessions from Grade PR to Grade 2

This intervention assists with identifying any difficulties and offering support at an early stage.

These group sessions focus on motor skills (gross and fine skills, postural and bilateral integration) as well as visual perceptual skills.

Students are monitored during each session by the Therapist and Class Educator. Additional activities (home programmes) may be sent home with students requiring extra input in certain areas.

Our parents are always welcome to approach Therapists for more information.
