Religion Teacher – High School

Applications are invited for the following permanent position commencing in January 2025.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should :

hold a Bachelor of Education and/or Post Graduate Certificate in Education

● be registered with SACE

● be a practising Catholic

be fully qualified to teach Religious Education (Grades 8 to 12)

have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar teaching position

understand current best practices in Religious Education, specifically in line with the Catholic Schools Office

 


 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Suitable candidates should:

● have a full knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church

know, serve and live in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic faith

● have a knowledge of the Catholic philosophy of education

● be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form

● promote and support the Catholic ethos of the school

commit to the school’s transformation, equity and belonging strategic objectives in support of an equitable, inclusive and safe school environment for all

 


 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be required to:

support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school

plan, implement and supervise the religious education programme for Grades 8 to 12 following the goals, policies, procedures, philosophy and curriculum of the school

work in collaboration with the other religion teachers and the chaplain for the development and implementation of the school’s religious activities

● strive to achieve the goals of Catholic education

● promote Catholic values and uphold the standards of the Catholic Church

be able to work well with other schools and churches in the community

act as a witness to the Gospel values by modelling the teachings of the Marist Ethos

help build the school’s faith community by a demonstrated willingness to participate in, and plan, school religious and service activities

remain abreast of developments and best practices in teaching
