Katlego Taunyane
Violin Teacher
Mr Katlego Taunyane (1985) was born in Soweto, Johannesburg and started violin lessons at the age of 10. He went on to study a Diploma in Classical Violin.
Performance at the University of Cape Town. In 2007, Mr Taunyane became the first recipient of the Solomon Makosana Award, an award in memory of the late Solomon Makosana, a CPO board member who passed away in 2006. Furthermore, he went onto receive the Gerry Meyer Memorial Prize in 2010 from the University of CapeTown.
As a performer, Mr Taunyane has played for the Johannesburg Camarata, Johannesburg Music Initiative (JMI), Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Namibia National Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Cape Philharmonic and a variety of other freelance string ensembles.
He has over 10 years of experience teaching Individual and Group lessons for Cape Phil Education Program, The Amy Biehl Foundation, ComArts Community Association and private students. Mr Taunyane also has an interest in conducting and arranging music for children’s orchestras.
